Courageous Advocacy

This December, the children of Reculver decided that instead of having a class Advent Calendar, they would run reverse advent calendars with all the offerings going to the Canterbury food bank. They wanted to make sure that all families had plenty of food and treats to eat over the Festive Season. Look at the wonderful food parcels that we sent off. It really gave us a warm glow and made us very proud to be able to help so many people at Christmas.

Mrs Ashley-Jones was very pleased to receive this letter to pass on to one of our Year 6 pupils, James. James wrote a letter to Chartwells (our school dinner provider) as he was not satisfied that they were making enough effort to cut back on single use plastics as we had requested and they had promised. Mrs Ashley-Jones sent the letter on to the area manager and the photos show James reading his reply. We are really proud of you James - a real campaigner in the making who has shown that actions speak louder than words. You have really lived out our school value of hope and perseverance in your work. Well done.
