Turtles (Year 3/4) Mrs Wills / Mrs Mount

We are very much looking forward to an enjoyable and successful year with your children. In our class we have Mrs Wills who teaches Monday-Wednesday and Mrs Mount who teaches Thursday and Friday. The children are supported with their learning by Miss Cooper and Mr Heath. We have a busy and exciting year ahead!

Please do not hesitate to come and see us if you have any concerns at all about your child’s progress or happiness at school. Appointments can always be made at the beginning or end of the school day.

We have an exciting year ahead looking at a wide range of interesting things. We shall be exploring the mythical world of dragons and the strange route of the digestive system. We will be traveling back in time to explore Vikings, Anglo Saxons and the Victorians. We will also be exploring the depths of the largest living eco system on Earth – the Amazon Rainforest.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday. It will follow a traditional route of English and Maths homework which will either reinforce what they have done in class or prep them for what we will be doing the following week. It is likely that the Maths homework will be set on the Mathletics website. If you have any questions about this please see a member of the Lower Key Stage Two Team. The children will also be completing daily times table tests. They will know which times table they are on so they can practice them at home.

Children are encouraged to research the topic that we are studying and complete any topic-related activities, such as a piece of art or a Powerpoint presentation, at home if they wish to.

Reading

We would like your children to read four times a week at home. When your child finishes their book they will be able to take a quiz in school, the results of which will indicate what level of book they will choose next. Please let us know who you feel your child’s reading is coming along, and any problems, using their yellow home contact book.

If you have any queries, please feel free to approach either Mrs Wills (Monday-Wednesday) or Mrs Mount (Thursday and Friday) at the end of the day on the school playground. You can also contact us via the school office by telephone.

We look forward to meeting you all and are excited for the year ahead with Turtle Class.
