Jellyfish (Year 3/4) Mr Caple

I am very much looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year with your children. We have a busy and exciting term ahead!

In our class the children are supported with their learning by Mrs Hayes, Miss Smith and Mr Le Bargy.

Please do not hesitate to come and see me if you have any concerns at all about your child’s progress or happiness at school, appointments can always be made at the beginning or end of the school day.

We have an exciting year ahead looking at a wide range of interesting things. We shall be exploring the exciting world of The Stone Age and how they survived in the wild. We will be traveling back in time to explore the "Rotten romans". We will also be exploring natural disasters around the world which is becoming more apparent in the news this day and age.

Homework will be set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday. It will follow a traditional route of English and maths homework which will either reinforce what they have done in class or prep them for what we will be doing the following week. It is likely that the Maths homework will be set on the Mathletics website. If you have any questions about this please see a member of the Lower Key Stage Two Team. The children will also be completing daily times table tests. They will know which times table they are on so they can practice them at home.

Children are also welcome to research any of the topics that we are studying in school and complete any topic-related activities

We would like your children to read four times a week at home. If your child finishes their book then they will be able to take a quiz in school, the results of which will indicate what level of book they will choose next. Please feel free to communicate with us about your child’s reading using the yellow home contact books.

If you have any queries please feel free to approach me at the end of the day as I will usually be on the school playground. You can also contact me via the school office by telephone.

We look forward to meeting you all and are excited for the year ahead with Jellyfish Class.
