Blue Whales (Year 3/4) Mr Depradines
I am very much looking forward to working with you and your children this year. We certainly have a busy and enjoyable term planned.
In our class the children will be supported with their learning by Mr Neaves and Mrs Pepler.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns at all regarding your child’s progress or happiness at school.
We have an exciting year ahead looking at a wide range of interesting topics. We shall be exploring the exciting world of The Stone Age and learning how the people who lived during this time survived in the wild. We will also be travelling back in time to explore The Rotten Romans. We will also be exploring natural disasters around the world, which is becoming more apparent in the news this day and age.
Homework will be set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday. It will follow a traditional route of English and maths homework, which will either reinforce what they have done in class or prep them for what we will be doing the following week. It is likely that the Maths homework will be set on the Mathletics website. If you have any questions about this please see a member of the Lower Key Stage Two Team. The children will also be completing daily times table tests. They will know which times table they are on so they can practice them at home.
Children are also welcome to research any of the topics that we are studying in school and complete any topic-related activities.
We would like your children to read four times a week at home. If your child finishes their book then they will be able to take a quiz in school, the results of which will indicate what level of book they will choose next. Please feel free to communicate with us about your child’s reading using the yellow home contact books.
If you have any queries please feel free to approach me at the end of the day as I will usually be on the school playground. You can also contact me via the school office by telephone.
We look forward to meeting you all and are excited for the year ahead with Blue Whales Class.
