Blue Whales (Year 3/4) Mr Depradines
A very warm welcome from myself, Mr Depradines, along with my team in our Blue Whales Class. I am very much looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year with your children. We have a busy and exciting term ahead! This year, the children will be supported by myself, Mr Neaves, Miss Appleby and Mrs Cramphorn. Please do not hesitate to come and see me if you have any concerns at all about your child’s progress or happiness at school. Appointments can be made at the beginning or end of the school day.
We have a very exciting year ahead, looking at a wide range of interesting topics. We shall be exploring Dragons, investigating the Deep Blue Sea and Treasure Island, travelling back in time to the Anglo Saxons, Vikings and Mayans and learning how to survive in the Amazon.
Could all children please have a named PE kit in school at all times, as it is a requirement that they participate in weekly physical education.
Homework will be set on a Friday and will need to be completed by Wednesday of the following week. We do not expect the children to spend more than 30 minutes on a piece of homework. English will usually be based on the grammar theme of our learning that week and Maths may be set on Mathletics. Usernames and passwords for this will be stuck inside the children’s reading records. I would also like to encourage the children to use Times Table Rockstars to enhance their times table knowledge. Again, usernames and passwords will be stuck inside their reading records.
We would like the children to be reading at least four times a week at home. When your child has finished their book, they will be expected to complete a quiz on our Accelerated Reader scheme at school. The results of these quizzes will be accessible to you through our Accelerated Reader Home Connect. Please let us know how you feel your child’s reading is progressing with any comments or concerns through their Reading Record.
We look forward to meeting you all and look forward to a very exciting year in Blue Whales Class.
